Then we have the debug stuff that is very reminiscent of what we know the debug stuff in prior R* games looks like. These are bespoke assets as far as anyone can tell. So we have a map, assets, character models, animations in the footage, right? Do any of those assets look like they were pulled from another game? Are they easy available store assets? The answer to that question, despite these leaks being widely viewed by the GTA and wider gaming community, is no. The question you should always ask when video/screens of a game leak is "if it's not X, what is it?". How are you sure that this is real and not a fake? I don't know anything about programming, I am barely able to plug in my monitors into my computer without setting them on fire and thats why I am looking for a simple explanation. but i guess the game will be worth it no matter what Thats why i didnt hope for a modern day vice city. the "feeling/setting"(call it what you want to call it) is very close to what we already have with gta5/online. The first thoughts i had when i watched the leaks for the very first time, i was like "ok cool. Same with move from GTA IIII to Vice City.Īgain, this looks like GTAO+ Same cars, same looking stores, streets and enironments. There was nice variety in terms of games and colour palette. Partly it was about going from the sunny west and desert to east coast with mostly overcast and very different type of older city. The leap from Las Venturas/SanFierro/ to GTA IV's Liberty City looked insanely different. I'm talking about modern day setting in a place where it's most likely going to be mostly sunny all the time and parts of it will look just like GTA V. I'm not saying GTA VI wont look graphically beautiful. But this looks samey like some GTAO expansion. A different time setting would deliver us a very different looking GTA. It's looks like the same game we've been playing for the last 10 years, I personally don't have much hope for GTA VI. But statements made by Take-Two suggest a release date may be on the horizon, though fans are unlikely to see the game before 2024 at the absolute earliest, with 2025 more likely. It being unfinished aside, this leak has confirmed my worries about going from a modern day GTA set in sunny LS to a modern day GTA in sunny VC. Both Kurtaj and his young accomplice were prominent figures in a hacking group known as Lapsus$.Īside from the info allegedly leaked by Kurtaj and other Lapsus$ members, little else is currently known about the upcoming GTA title. But after assessment by a psychologist, Kurtaj was found not mentally fit to stand trial, meaning a jury will decide whether he committed the crimes he's been accused of, rather than providing a guilty or not guilty verdict.Ī 17-year-old accomplice, who has not been named publicly due to their status has a minor, has also been charged alongside Kurtaj, though the younger hacker was apparently uninvolved in some of the attacks. Among them are three counts of blackmail, two counts of fraud, and six other charges related to the UK's Computer Misuse Act. Though he was 17 at the time the crimes occurred, Kurtaj is now a legal adult, and has been charged with a total of 12 offenses. Take-Two developers were clearly heartbroken by the leaks, calling the ordeal " terribly unfortunate" and " really frustrating and upsetting." The developers received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow devs alike, and the studio was very open about the the damage the leak caused. The incident even spawned an FBI investigation. Some overzealous players are even using the leaks in an attempt to construct a partial recreation of the game's map. Also leaked were a collection of screenshots, including shots of the in-game map. The company's stock prices tanked after Kurtaj allegedly leaked the purported release date of the long-awaited GTA 6. While all the businesses involved suffered negative effects, Take-Two interactive had a particularly rough time of it.
